When Saif Ali Khan revealed to Sharmila Tagore about his marriage with Amrita Singh
During the conversation, Sharmila Tagore revealed how Saif Ali Khan disclosed his marriage with Amrita Singh for the first time and how it was sudden. Speaking of which the veteran actress said, “I was visiting Mumbai for something, so Saif came to meet me and then said ‘I have something to tell you’ and then he told me. Then of course, I don’t know what I was doing but I was quiet and he says ‘Amma you’re quiet and your colour is changing and you are looking different.’ And I told him we will talk about it later. And then he left then I rang up Tiger and told him and there was a long silence on his part and then we left it at that. Then I said, I would like to meet her. The next day I called Amrita and we had tea and we chatted, but still quite shocked.”
Sharmila Tagore cried on knowing Saif Ali Khan got married to Amrita Singh
Further in the conversation, Saif Ali Khan revealed that his mother cried on knowing that he got married to Amrita Singh. He said, “She (Sharmila Tagore) was supportive when I did it, and I remember it. She had said, ‘I believe you are living with someone and you are doing something’. So I said ‘yes’ and she said that don’t get married. And I said that I got married yesterday. And a big tear fell off of her eye. She started crying and she said ‘you really hurt me, why didn’t you tell me’. So that’s actually what happened there.”
Saif Ali Khan on his separation from Amrita Singh
Saif Ali Khan revealed that he spoke to his mother first before the separation. He said, “About the separation, the first person I spoke to before the separation was my mother, who took a deep breath and there was another pause on the phone and said, ‘I am with you if that is what you want’ and that helped a lot.”
Sharmila Tagore on adjusting with Kareena Kapoor
After Saif’s separation from Amrita Singh, the actor got married to Kareena Kapoor. In this episode, actress Sharmila Tagore revealed how she readjusted with her. Sharmila says, “I had known Kareena earlier, meaning I had met her earlier and she has been very very nice. She is lovely and she is what she is. She was with us when Tiger was ill and when he passed away.” Furthermore, she also revealed her reaction when she got to know about Saif and Kareena and that the two are living together. The actress said, “She said it so naturally, that when I even think about it I sort of laugh. So simple and sorted she is. She is so direct and very clear.”
Sharmila Tagore was the first choice for Shabana Azmi’s role in RRKPK
During the chat, Karan Johar revealed Sharmila Tagore was the first choice to play Shabana Azmi’s role in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. He said, “I was so sad to not have you. I had offered Sharmila ji the part played by Shabana ji. She was my very first choice. Because of health reasons at that time, she couldn’t say yes but it is a regret I have.”
