Koffee With Karan 8 returned with its latest episode featuring Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan. And the OG Students got a special message from Alia Bhatt as well. As the promos promised, the episode was a laughter riot full of many revelations. From Alia revealing Sidharth gifting the apple of her eye, her pet cat Edward to Yash Chopra seeing Student Of The Year as his last film before his death. The episode had some big moments and here’s recounting some of those major highlights.

Sidharth gave Alia Bhatt her pet cat Edward

When Alia gave a surprise message to her fellow students Sidharth and Varun, it was full of unknown facts. Sharing three unknown facts about Sid, the actress said that he is a very good singer. She also said that he is the best person to get a party started due to his innate ‘punjabiness’. What surprised is the gratitude she showed to Sid for giving her the first love of her life. She shared, “I am very thankful to Sid, because he‘s given me my first love of my life, Edward.” Edward is Alia’s pet cat whom she loves a lot.

Varun-Sidharth didn’t want Alia to be cast in Student Of The Year

Varun, Sid and Alia had a dreamy debut with SOTY. However, Karan revealed on the episode that the two leading men didn’t want Alia to be in the film. He said, “I still remember the first time she walked in, how both of you sent me messages saying you can’t cast her.” Both Varun and Sid denied sending the messages, but Karan said one of them said “She’s too young.” The filmmaker even revealed that Varun kept sending him images of other girls to be cast in her role.

Sidharth didn’t want to put wedding video with Kiara Advani out

Earlier this year, Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani had a dreamy wedding, whose video stormed the internet. The cute gestures of both the bride and groom were just too adorable. However, Sidharth didn’t want that video to be put out in public. Talking about Sid-Kiara’s dreamy wedding, Karan said, “It seemed like a reel love story has translated into a real love story. Like the romance of Shershaah has come alive in the real world.”

While the world love their wedding video, Sidharth didn’t want to put it out. Talking about their gestures, he said, “It was not planned. I was quite against putting the video out. But credit to Manish (Malhotra) and Kiara, who said, ‘Let’s put it out’. I was like it might look forced.”

Sidharth broke Varun’s nose during SOTY

Recalling the fight sequence between Varun and Sid in SOTY, it was revealed that Sidharth broke Varun’s nose in that scene. However, Varun clarified that it wasn’t Sid’s fault at all as it was as Sid said, ‘their first ever action sequence in life’. To that, Karan added, “Your nose was bleeding and I remember Alia started screaming. And I am like why is she overacting so much. Suddenly she started screaming loudly and I was like what has happened to Alia.” What made the incident interesting is that Varun’s family believed that it must have been Varun’s fault only. They were more concerned about how Sid was doing.

Yash Chopra saw SOTY as his last film

It was in 2012 that filmmaker Yash Chopra passed away. And Karan revealed that the late filmmaker saw SOTY as his last film before death. The host shared, “What is really special to me and ironical and beautiful is that Yash Chopra was here on the first day. He was there to bless all three of you and me and it’s actually the last film he saw. He saw it on the 9th of October and he was admitted to the hospital on the 12th and passed away subsequently. I remember the day he saw the film, he came and told me, ‘you have launched three stars’.”
