One of the prolific singers and one of India’s gem’s Lata Mangeshkar has left everyone on Sunday in the void. The singer passed away at the age of 92 after the failure of multiple organs post COVID-19. She was given a state honour and was draped in the tricolour. Her cremation took place at Shivaji Park with army officers, renowned politicians including Narendra Modi were seen in attendance. Lata Ji is that gem who can never be replaced and her songs are forever now immortalised. She will be remembered and her work will be cherished forever. Government Awards:
In 1969, she was honoured with Padma Bhushan, in 1989 – Dada Saheb Phalke Award, in 1999, Padma Vibhushan, in 2001, Bharat Ratna, in 2008, Lata Ji was honour with “One Time Award for Lifetime Achievement” on the 60th anniversary of India’s independence.

Maharashtra State Film Awards:
In 1966, the singer bagged Best Playback Singer award for Sadhi Mansa, in 1966, Best Music Director for Sadhi Manas (Marathi) under the name ‘Anandghan’, in 1977, Best Playback Singer for Jait Re Jait, in 1997, Maharashtra Bhushan Award, in 2001 Maharashtra Ratna (First Recipient)
National Awards:
Mangeshkar holds the record of being the oldest winner at the age of 61 of this award. In1972, she bagged the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for songs of the film Parichay. In 1974, she got for Best Female Playback Singer for songs of the film Kora Kagaz and Best Female Playback Singer for songs of the film Lekin in 1990.
Filmfare Awards:
The Filmfare Awards for playback singing first started in 1959 and at that time, she won a Filmfare Award for Aaja Re Pardesi from Madhumati. Later, in 1963, she got an award for Kahi Deep Jale Kahi Dil from Bees Saal Baad. She received an award in 1966 for Tumhi Mere Mandir Tumhi Meri Pooja from Khandan, in 1970 for Aap Mujhe Achhe Lagne Lage from Jeene Ki Raah. In 1993, Ms Mangeskar received a Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award and Filmfare Special Award for Didi Tera Devar Deewana from Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! In 1994. In 2004, the Filmfare Special Award where a golden trophy was presented on the occasion of the Filmfare Awards completing 50 years.
Bengal Film Journalists’ Association Awards:
Lata Ji was honoured with 15 awards including for films like Pakeezah, Abhimaan, Kora Kagaz, Ram Teri Ganga Maili.
Doctor of Letters:
She even got some Doctor of Letters including universities like Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda (2005) Shivaji University, Kolhapur, India, New York University.
Guinness Book of Records:
In 1974, The Guinness Book of Records listed Lata Mangeshkar as the most recorded artist in history, stating that she had reportedly recorded “not less than 25,000 solo, duet and chorus backed songs in 20 Indian languages” between 1948 and 1974. The later editions of the Guinness Book stated that Lata Mangeshkar had sung no fewer than 30,000 songs between 1948 and 1987.
Aye Mere Watan Ke Logo:
When Lata sang the patriotic song, ‘Aye Mere Watan Ke Logo’ in the presence of Jawaharlal Nehru in 1963, she brought the then Prime Minister to tears.
A perfume, Lata Eau de Parfum, was launched in 1999 in the honor of this reputed Indian singer.
