Today, the entire nation is mourning the tragic demise of the legendary singer, Lata Mangeshkar. She was one of the prolific singers of India who was crowned as the Nightingale of India and Queen of Melody. Lata Ji is a holder of several awards and honours, including the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award, Padma Bhushan (1969), Padma Vibhushan (1999), Zee Cine Award for Lifetime Achievements (1999), Dadasaheb Phalke Award (1989), Maharashtra Bhushan Award (1997), NTR National Award (1999), Bharat Ratna (2001) and many more.

As the country is mourning her death and sharing condolence messages on social media, we have compiled some of her throwback pictures that are priceless. We went to her Instagram handle where she has dropped several throwback pictures with some notable personalities that will surely make you miss her sorely. In 1974, The Guinness Book of Records listed Lata Mangeshkar as the most recorded artist in history, stating that she had reportedly recorded not less than 25,000 solo, duet and chorus backed songs in 20 Indian languages between 1948 and 1974. The later editions of the Guinness Book stated that Lata Mangeshkar had sung no fewer than 30,000 songs between 1948 and 1987.

It was well-known that Lata Ji and the late actor Dilip Kumar shared a brother-sister bond. While actor Dilip Kumar isn’t amongst us anymore, this moment shared by the two veterans will always remain memorable.

Music director RD Burman and Lata Mangeshkar have worked together on several songs including Tere Bina Zindagi Se, Tere Bina Jiya Jaane Na, Bahon Mein Chale Aao, Jai Jai Shiv Shankar and many more. It is heartbreaking to see that these days have now become history.

It also breaks our heart to know that Indian cinema has lost one of its gems… but she will live on through her music forever. She is irreplaceable.

She had shared a priceless picture with late Meena Kumari from a recording studio on social media. During her birth anniversary, Ms Mangeshkar penned, “Aaj bahut mashhoor aur meri pasandida abhinetri Meena Kumari ki jayanti hai. Unke aur mere bahut acche sambandh the. Wo kai baar mere recording mein aati thi, main unke ghar jaaya karti thi. Unke pati mujhe beti kehete the. Unki yaad ko main vinamra abhivadan karti hun.”
