Child artiste Sridevi
Sridevi began her tryst with the silver screen with the age of four. She was a child artiste who was known for her impeccable acting. Yes, a child artiste known for acting skills. Charming eyes, curly hair and oh-so-graceful presence on-screen, we loved Sridevi on the big screen.
The debut!
Then she ventured into Bollywood just to create history. She made her Bollywood debut with 'Solva Sawan' in the year 1979. Though the film tanked at the box office, it was just to bring to begin an iconic journey of a star.
Her first Bollywood hit!
It was four years after her debut that Sridevi got her first hit in Bollywood in the form of 'Himmatwala'. She shared screens with Jeetendra and it was the biggest hit of the year. Sridevi had arrived just to leave everyone behind.
Bollywood’s first female superstar
Hit-after-hit, Sridevi was unstoppable. 'Sadma', 'Nagina', 'Mr India' and others, Sridevi was a charmer on-screen. But it was her 'Chandni' that gave her the title of India's First Female Superstar. The success of Chandni proved that Sridevi is here to stay.
Her marriage with Boney
But with her successful career, what also made to headlines was her personal life. Sridevi fell in love with Boney Kapoor, an already married man, and then her life took a turn. Boney Kapoor left behind his first wife Mona (Arjun and Anshula's mom) to be with Sridevi. When they married, Sridevi was already carrying Boney's first child.
An happily ever after!
Sridevi and Boney Kapoor love story remains the most controversial one but the couple led a very peaceful and happy life. They had two daughters, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor, and Sridevi took a break from her acting career to be with her kids.
Family love
Janhvi and Khushi made up for Sridevi's life and she was deeply attached to her.
The most successful comeback
It was after a sabbatical of 15-years that Sridevi made her on-screen comeback with 'English Vinglish'. Even after so many years, her charm was still intact. Making a successful comeback is not easy, but Sridevi changed the norm.
Being the ‘MOM’
But then again it was a break of four years. It took Sridevi four years to comeback on the big screen with 'Mom'. Her emotional portrayal of a mother whose daughter gets raped, was heartbreaking yet beautiful. It was during the promotions of 'Mom' that the lady had promised her fans that it will not take her another four years to be back on big screens. Sadly, she won't be able to fulfill this promise.
Janhvi’s debut!
Further on, Sridevi's daughter Janhvi Kapoor is making her Bollywood debut with 'Dhadak' and the proud mom was quite excited about it. She accompanied her daughter to sets, just to be there to motivate her. Our heart breaks to know that she won't be there to see her daughter shining on the big screen.
An unfortunate trip to Dubai!
It was in Dubai, at Mohit Marwah's wedding, that Sridevi was seen spreading her charm. Who would have known that those were her last happy moments with family. As per reports, she accidentally drowned in a bathtub and that was an end to our beloved Sridevi.
