Anu Aggarwal was born on 11 January 1969 in New Delhi, and was raised in Chennai. She was a gold medalist in sociology from Delhi University.

The accident was so severe that a part of her body including a portion of her face was paralysed and twisted to one side and her beautiful face turned ugly. After 3 years of struggle she tried a lot to walk and emerged as a winner. All the doctors were shocked to see her trying to walk because her feet was not functioning. “So, if I closed my eyes there was no thumb. I had no first finger. No second finger. No third finger. No fourth finger. No tiny smallest finger. And I had no nails. I did not have a palm. I did not feel the skin on top of my palm. I had no skin even above the palm. My wrist was decapitated. I had no hand and no lower arm. I had no elbow. I had no upper arm,” she said.

During her recovery period she experienced a lot of positive energy that helped her to recuperate much faster than predicted by the doctors. Later she started travelling overseas. After some years she came back to Mumbai filled with enthusiasm and a willpower to take up new projects.

Today Anu is single and she practices yoga at the Bihar school of yoga in Munger, Bihar. She is also an amateur power-lifter and after her accident she has competed in many power-lifting competitions.
