Mahesh Babu

Mahesh Babu, who is also known as the Price of Tollywood was one of the choices for the lead role. Reportedly, the actor was also interested in the script. However, due to the delay in the making led to the actor saying a ‘No’ to the role. He reportedly had a tight schedule.

Anushka Shetty

Anushka Shetty, who won hearts with her stellar performance in the film Baahubali was also amongst a few who were approached for the role, eventually taken up by Trisha, according to reports. She could not come on board due to unknown reasons.

Thalapathy Vijay

Mani Ratnam’s first choice for the titular role in Ponniyin Selvan 1 was reportedly Thalapathy Vijay. However, as per reports, owing to the actor’s schedule issues, he did not do the movie.

Keerthy Suresh was offered a role of one of the leading ladies in the Mani Ratnam directorial, according to reports. However, the actress turned down the role as her dates were clashing with her prior commitment to the movie Annatthe.

Sathyaraj

Sathyaraj, who played the role of Katappa in the SS Rajamouli movie franchise, Baahubali was also offered a role in the film Ponniyin Selvan 1. He reportedly turned down the role owing to prior commitments.
