Aamir Khan (‘Taare Zameen Par’)
Aamir's portrayal of a teacher who takes a different approach towards the profession and treats kids as delicate beings who need to be dealt with accordingly, met with much appreciation. The way he opened up the character of Ishaan, played by Darsheel Safary, moved everyone to tears.
Amitabh Bachchan (‘Mohabbatein’, ‘Black, ‘Aarakshan’)
Whether it was a strict headmaster Narayan Shankar in 'Mohabbatein', a capricious Debraj Sahai, who gives new lease of life to a deaf, mute, and visually-impaired young lady in 'Black', or even Prabhakar Anand of 'Aarakshan', who battled to acquire a change in the instructive framework without trading off on his ethics and standards, Amitabh Bachchan brought alive different facets of an educator's identity through these movies.
Boman Irani (‘Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.’, ‘3 Idiots’)
Boman Irani played a role of Dr Viru Sahastrabuddhe aka Virus, an extremely strict college director. In fact, his character was shown to be such a disciplinarian, that his own son succumbed to the same and committed suicide. The same attitude led to the death of another college student. However, by the end of the movie Boman's character redeems himself as he realises that individuals should excel in the field of their choice, and not be a part of the rat race. He is also remembered for his role as a strict medical college dean in Munnabhai M.B.B.S.
Naseeruddin Shah (‘Sir’, ‘Iqbal’)
Naseeruddin Shah had the pleasure of assuming the part of an educator in two movies 'Sir' and 'Iqbal'. In Sir he assumed the part of educator consummately and empowered the understudies regardless of his own issues. In the film Iqbal he played a cricket mentor to a hard of hearing and quiet Shreyas Talpade. Well, truely a great teacher.
Shah Rukh Khan
King Khan, aka Shah Rukh Khan, also donned the hat of a teacher in YRF's 'Mohabbatein'. He played the role of Raj Aryan a music teacher who teaches the students the meanings of small happiness in life, and the simple joys. He eventually even wins over the tough principal, played by Amitabh Bachchan, and reforms Gurukul from a stern educational instution to a place where love and happiness can thrive alongside books.
Sushmita Sen
Bollywood actress Sushmita Sen played the role of Chandni, a Chemistry teacher in the movie 'Main Hoon Na'. The entire college is indicated to be entranced by the excellence of the beautiful and sexy teacher.
Teachers have always formed an integral part of our lives, no matter at what stage. School or college, they have mentored us, scolded us, and even given us a hand or two, literally. But no matter what, they have had a huge part in shaping us into what we are, today. Likewise, there have been many on-screen teachers, who have appeared in Bollywood movies, and have left an impact on us, in one way or the other.
