Reasons why Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai broke up

Aishwarya’s statement

In a press release, Aishwarya said, "For my well-being and for the self-respect of my family, I will not work with Mr Salman Khan. The chapter of Salman Khan was a nightmare in my life. I am thankful that it is over now."

Salman’s alcoholic behaviour

In an interview with Indian Express, Aishwarya had said, "I stood by him (Salman) enduring his alcoholic misbehaviour in its worst phases and in turn I was at the receiving end of his abuse (verbal, physical and emotional), infidelity and indignity. That is why like any other self-respecting woman I ended my relationship with him."

Salman secretly helped his ex

According to Stardust, Salman Khan's ex, Somy Ali, asked for help from Salman for her father's operation. Without Aishwarya's knowledge, Salman went to USA to help her. Apparently, Aishwarya was furious when she found out about the same.

Salman Khan’s behaviour towards Ash’s parents

Despite Salman's past relationships and their disapproval of their daughter's relationship with Salman, Ash's parents never stopped the two from meeting. Salman, on the other hand, treated them badly. Aishwarya was not happy about his behaviour with her parents.

Ruckus on the film sets

It was reported that Salman Khan created a ruckus on the sets of Aishwarya's film 'Kuch Naa Kaho', which had Abhishek Bachchan opposite her. Salman reportedly went on a rampage during the shooting and even damaged Aishwarya's car.

Salman’s demand for commitment

Salman Khan now wanted a commitment from his ladylove, whereas Aishwarya differed on this with the actor. Ash was rapidly climbing the ladder of success in Bollywood and was not ready to take the relationship to the next level. Salman felt his love was not returned in kind and this led him to turn violent.

Salman’s obsessive behaviour

This created a tension between the two leading to fights and arguments. Salman once landed up outside Aishwarya’s residence late in the night to speak to her, but she refused to let him in. It was said that he banged the door till 3 am in the morning, so much that his hands started bleeding. Reportedly, he even threatened to jump off the roof of her building if he was not let in. That's when ash gave into his demand.

Objection from Aishwarya’s parents

Aishwarya Rai's frequent visits to Salman Khan's residence had made their equation an obvious one. This was perhaps not going down well with Aishwarya’s parents. Particularly, Aishwarya's father was strictly against their relationship owing to Salman's various link-ups in the past.

Physical abuse!

Aishwarya Rai had claimed that one of the major reasons for her split with ex-beau Salman Khan was his violent behaviour and physical abuse. He used to hound her and abuse her even if she didn't answer his calls. Here's what Ash had quoted, "After we broke up, he would call me and talk rubbish. He also suspected me of having affairs with my co-stars. I was linked up with everyone, from Abhishekh Bachchan to Shah Rukh Khan. There were times when Salman got physical with me, luckily without leaving any marks. And I would go to work as if nothing had happened."
