Remakes of Bollywood Movies that failed at Box Office

Karz

Karzzz was a 2008 thriller film directed by Satish Kaushik. It features Urmila Matondkar and Himesh Reshammiya in the lead roles. It is a remake of the hit Subhash Ghai film Karz, starring Rishi Kapoor and Tina Munim. The story of this movie is based on reincarnation and revenge and was declared a superhit. However remake of this movie is epic failur at box office.

Khoobsurat

Khoobsurat was 2014 romantic comedy movie also known as Disney's Khoobsurat-The Royal Misfit directed by Shashanka Ghosh. It features Sonam Kapoor, Fawad Afzal Khan, Kirron Kher, Ratna Pathak and Aamir Raza Hussain in lead roles. The film is based on the 1980 film of the same name directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, starring Ashok Kumar,Rekha and Rakesh Roshan. This film won the Filmfare Best Movie Award in 1981. But Sonam Kapoor starrer was neither a blockbuster nor a failure at Box Office.

Sholay

Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag was a Bollywood action movie directed by Ram Gopal Varma, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Mohanlal, Ajay Devgan, Prashant Raj Sachdev and Sushmita Sen. This movie was an official remake of the classic best Indian movie Sholay directed by Ramesh Sippy. It features Dharmendra,Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini and Jaya Bachchan. Remake of this was biggest Bollywood flop of the 2007.

Umrao Jaan

Umrao Jaan Bollywood movie directed by J.P.Dutta, starring Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai in the lead roles. It is remake of 1981 courtesan movie of the same name directed by Muzaffar Ali. The film starred Bollywood actress Rekha and Farooq Shaikh in leading role. Movie was average at box office but Rekha was praised for her acting. But Aishwarya's Umrao Jaan performed poorly at the box office.

Zanjeer

Zanjeer was 2013 thriller movie directed by Apoorva Lakhia, starring Tollywood actor Ram Charan and Priyanka Chopra in the lead role. It is remake of the 1973 Hindi movie of the same name directed by Prakash Mehra, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Pran, Ajit and Bindu. Zanjeer remains an important film in the history of Indian Cinema and is regarded as a classic today. However remake of Zanjeer failed to become big entertainment at box office.
