This has to be one of the greatest losses Indian cinema has ever faced; something that we never saw coming so soon. Actress Sridevi took her last breath last night in Dubai, where she was attending the wedding of relative Mohit Marwah. Such is life's irony, that her iconic film 'Himmatwala' marks its 35th anniversary today.

Released on 25th February 1983, 'Himmatwala' is just another evidence of Sridevi's versatility as a performer. She not only assimilated the multi-layered character of Rekha Bandookwala perfectly, but nailed it as well.

The K. Raghavendra Rao directorial featured her opposite Jeetendra, and their pairing was hugely admired as well.

Although Sridevi made her debut as lead actress with 'Solva Sawan' in 1978, it was 'Himmatwala' with which she rose to actual fame. This followed with series of successful films including 'Tohfa', 'Maqsad', 'Mr. India' and 'Chandni' to name a few.

Just few days back, she had flown to Dubai to attend husband Boney Kapoor's nephew Mohit Marwah's wedding and was at her usual gorgeous self.

At the time of her death, she was with Boney Kapoor and younger daughter Khushi Kapoor. Her elder daughter Janhvi Kapoor is in Mumbai as she is gearing up for 'Dhadak'.
