Arshad Warsi as Circuit
One of the rare franchises, the 'Munnabhai' series stood out not just for the content and the gags, but also the characterisation. Well, if Sanjay Dutt as Munnabhai stole your heart with his honesty and innocence, then Arshad Warsi as circuit stood out for his immensely hilarious act, dialogue delivery and his no-holds-barred acting. Nobody had ever seen a character like his before, so when the first part released, everybody was awed by his bestie role. In spite of being a sidekick bestie to Munnabhai, circuit aka Sarkeshwar was extremely endearing and the heart of the movie. In fact, he lent a huge contribution in ensuring the smooth success of the franchise.
Swara Bhasker as Payal
The 'Tanu Weds Manu' franchise had really strong performances and when you think of its characters, Swara Bhasker's Payal, a no-nonsense, feisty BFF to Kangana's Tanu instantly rings a bell in your mind especially on Friendship Day. She was flawless in her role and symobolised the perfect bestie you would ever ask for.
Vishal Malhotra as Mambo
Shahid Kapoor's debut movie 'Ishq Vishk' earned him loads of awards and adulation. The story which revolved around college romance took an instant connect with the youth. If Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao's characters were adored by the audiences, then so was Vishal Malhotra's character loved and appreciated. He essayed the role of Mambo, Shahid's bestie who dotes on him completely. Vishal as Mambo was righteous and also had a great sense of humour. We had the maximum laughs when he was onscreen. He surely deserves to be mentioned.
Vikrant Massey as Devdas
One of the most talented and gifted actors, Vikrant Massey played a sidekick in the movie 'Lootera'. He played the role of an assistant/friend to Ranveer Singh's character, Varun. While, Ranveer was appreciated for his unconventional role, Vikrant too walked away with lots of praises and eventually bagged many interesting projects soon after.
Lisa Haydon as Vijayalakshmi
Model-turned-actress Lisa Haydon had a special role in Kangana Ranaut-starrer 'Queen'. She played the sidekick friend Vijayalakshmi to Kangana's Rani. She was the badass French-Spanish-Indian staying in Paris, who meets Rani accidentally and they become thick friends. On the one hand where Kangana walked away with loud cheers, Lisa too stood out for her role and it's regarded as one of her best performances till date.
Deepak Dobriyal as Pappu
If Kangana Ranaut earned the maximum praises for her performance in the 'Tanu Weds Manu' franchise, then that's indeed deserved. But, not just Kangana and R Madhavan, another actor/character which stayed back with us long after the movie was over is of Deepak Dobriyal (Pappu). His bromance with Madhavan was loved by one and all. He really impressed with his perfect comic timing in the movie.
When you are about to watch a movie in a cinema hall or in the comfort of your own house, you walk in with a lot of anticipation over the lead characters who may even be your role models. But, there have been several such instances when you are perpetually awed by a sidekick. A character who may not be in the limelight during promotions or even in the entire movie, but yet, there’s something extremely interesting about the role or the performance that stays with you long after the movie is over.

So today, on the occasion of Friendship Day, let’s take a moment and recollect those special sidekick characters who were the best pals to the protagonist, or in our language, the BBBs, best Bollywood buddies. Not only were these characters well-fleshed out and sacrificial, but they epitomised the perfect besties who nailed their relatively smaller roles with their splendid performances and were equally loved by the audiences.
