And this is how the Khans ruled the industry!
So going by the numbers, we are left with no doubt that the Khans do rule Bollywood today. Rs 1623 crore, Rs 2126 crore and Rs 2830 crore, are definitely not a small amounts! And well, this amount made only by their films, we can't even imagine the money their production houses make. Hats off, Khans!
Salman Khan – The ‘Dabangg’ Khan is here!
In 2010, Salman bounced back with a bang with his film ‘Dabangg’. And since then, he has just been playing the game of Rs 100 crore and more at the box office. ‘Ready’, ‘Bodyguard’, ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ and all made it to Rs 100 crore club and then we had his ‘Kick’ crossing the Rs 200 crore club. His recent one ‘Sultan’ is enjoying its space in Rs 300 crore club. So in the end, Salman’s approximately 70 films have so far made approximately Rs 2830 crore!
Salman Khan – Not-so-good 2000!
2000 onwards, it was like a dry spell for Salman as many of his films either flopped at the box office or did just average business. Films like ‘Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge’, ‘Garv’, ‘Phir Milenge’, ‘Shaadi Karke Phas Gaya Yaar, ‘Salaam-E-Ishq’, ‘Marigold’ proved to be disaster at the box office. ‘God Tussi Great Ho’, ‘Yuvraaj’ and all of them were box office failure with merely making Rs 10 to Rs 15 crore. The film of Salman that could reach somewhere near Rs 50 crore in that decade was ‘No Entry’ which again was a multi-starrer film.
Salman Khan – Prem in the making!
Out of the three Khans, Salman Khan is the one who has done the maximum number of films in the span of his Bollywood career. He started with a film called ‘Biwi Ho Toh Aisi’ which was a flop film. And in the next year, he gave the biggest hit of his career ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’. Our beloved ‘Prem’ was born with this film. Then in 1990s Salman featured in approximately 29 films out of which 12 were flop. But then he had films like ‘Hum Aapke Hai Koun’, ‘Karan Arjun’, ‘Saajan’ and more which earned the title of superhits.
Shah Rukh Khan – The undoubted Badshah of Bollywood!
Then came the era wherein all his films started crossing Rs 100 crore benchmark easily. ‘Ra.One’, ‘Don 2’, ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’, ‘Chennai Express’, ‘Happy New Year’, ‘Dilwale’, all of them shinning in Rs 100 and Rs 200 crore club. So in all, Shah Rukh Khan 60 films have minted approximately Rs 2126 crore at the box office.
Shah Rukh Khan – Ruler of 2000!
The year 2000 onwards, Shah Rukh Khan made the maximum amount of money. He gave out films like ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham...’, ‘Swades’, ‘My Name Is Khan’, ’Main Hoon Na’, ‘Chak De! India’, ‘Don’and more. All of these crossed Rs 50 crore mark easily at domestic box office and were superhit internationally too.
Shah Rukh Khan – King in the making!
Starting from ‘Deewana’ to ‘Dilwale’, Shah Rukh Khan’s filmography is huge. He started his acting career by featuring in television serials, but soon he became a heartthrob of Bollywood industry. He made his debut in 1992 with ‘Deewana’ and since then he was flooded with film offers. Initially he bowled everyone with his villainous avatars. Only in the 90s, Shah Rukh Khan featured in approximately 27 films and moolah earned by these movies can simply cross Rs 300 crore.
Aamir Khan – Rs 100 crore club perfectionist!
From the year 2000 onwards, Aamir did lesser number of films, but all of them were a box office hit. He did one film a year or in fact he did no film between 2001 and 2005, but still he ruled the Rs 100 and Rs 200 crore club. His films like ‘Ghajini’, ‘3 Idiots’, ‘Dhoom 3’, ‘PK’ crossed the RS 100 crore mark in no time. And in the end we had his recent ‘Dangal’ that has already made it to Rs 300 crore club. In all featured in approximately 40 films till now, and his lifetime box office collection stands at Rs 1623 crore approximately.
Aamir Khan – The lucky 90s!
In the initial years of 90s, Aamir Khan featured in more than 3 films a year and most of them were a hit. Like he delivered films like ‘Andaz Apna Apna’, ‘Rangeela’, ‘Ghulam’, ‘Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahi’ and many more which we still remember. So only in 90s, Aamir Khan featured in approximately 26 films and the number these movies made is humongous. If we calculate the money that his films made till 90s, the sum comes up to Rs 200 crore approximately, which is huge! But the best is yet to come...
Aamir Khan – The beginning!
Starting with a minor role in ‘Yaadon Ki Baarat’, Aamir Khan made his big Bollywood debut with the film ‘Holi’ in the year 1973. Unfortunately this film did not do wonders at the box office and it failed miserably. His first big box office collection came from the film ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ that released in 1988 minting approximately Rs 4.6 crore at the box office. Imagine this amount of money in the 80s. Of course it was a big success and since then there was no looking back for Aamir.
There’s no denying that Bollywood churns out a huge amount of money with the films that it makes every year. But when we talk about the whooping 200, 300 and 500 crore club, it’s mostly our Bollywood’s Khans who hold the power to make it there. Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan have been in the industry for more than two decades now and have performed in so many movies, that it is difficult to keep a count. So with this, is it easy to keep an account of the money that they have made over the years? Definitely not! We just tried to check the lifetime collection of the films these Khans have featured in and the figure has left us stunned. No wonder these Khans make for the top contenders in the club of richest people in India.
