After having acted in movies like Sholay and Aaina, 95-year-old A K Hangal was bankrupt and unable to even pay his medical bills early this year. Celebs like Jaya Bachchan and Salman Khan intervened and helped A K Hangal off his financial crisis.
Akshay Kumar
Akshay flew to Bangkok for Martial Arts training there his uncle got him a job at Metro Guest House where his first salary was, just Rs 1,500. He studied martial arts in Bangkok while working as a chef. Akki even worked in Kolkata for a travel agency for a year and a half.During this phase he gave a shot in modeling, his first salary for modeling was Rs 4000. After his successful start as a model, he changed his name from Rajeev Om Bhatia to Akshay Kumar.
Amitabh Bhachchan
“In the year 2000, when the entire world was celebrating the new century, I was celebrating my disastrous fortune. There were no films, no money, no company, a million legal cases against and the tax authorities had put notice of recovery on my home,” Amitabh Bachchan wrote on his blog. ABCL, Amitabh Bachchan’s film production and event management company was the main culprit behind his bankruptcy. Despite Amitabh Bachchan’s successful stint in Bollywood since the 70s, the new millennium’s beginning left him practically jobless as actors almost 30 years younger to him were climbing to fame. However, with KBC, Amitabh Bachchan’s bank account started filling up again.
Jackie Shroff
Jackie Shroff had a near brush with bankruptcy in 2008, after his career hit rock-bottom. He had taken a loan from the film-maker Sajid Nadiadwala which he couldn't repay. Sajid even began legal proceedings to obtain the money from him but was stopped by Salman Khan’s intervention. Jackie Shroff reportedly had to sell his flats to pay back the loan.
Preity Zinta
After the disaster of her production, Ishqq in Paris, we heard that Preity Zinta had been plagued with financial crises. The actress had confessed that Salman Khan offered to help her with her finances after reports suggested that she has put her apartment up for rent. Writer-director Abbas Tyrewala who wrote 'Ishkq In Paris' slapped a case against the actress for non-payment of dues.
Salman Khan
Salman Khan - The man with the golden heart is very well known for his charity and social work. As he too has seen poverty. Salman Khan revealed this when Salman Khan and his mother Salma (Salma Aunty to most of Bollywood) went on Farah Khan's chat show Tere Mere Beech Mein where Salman said, "When my father faced serious financial crisis due his his business partnership, they had days when they had to check their land line repeatedly whether the line is dead or not."
Shah Rukh Khan
SRK had come to Bombay in search of his girlfriend Gauri Chibber. He had spent his last dime to reach Bombay. He had to sleep on park benches and bathe in hotel washrooms. One day he was sitting at Marine Drive and he promised himself that he will rule over Mumbai and this drove him to the path of success which he is doing till date with his hard-work and known as the king of bollywood.
Govinda
