‘Tubelight’
Kabir Khan’s ‘Tubelight’ starring Salman Khan, Sohail Khan and Zhu Zhu is set against the backdrop of Sino-Indian war that took place in 1962. We are surely looking forward to this one. Though the film concentrates on the relationship between two brothers, we are sure Kabir will gel the war finely in the film.
‘Baadshaho’
‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai’ team, director Milan Luthria, and actors Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi have teamed up for a movie titled ‘Baadshaho’. The movie, which also stars Ileana D’Cruz and Esha Gupta, is set in the emergency era of the 1970s. It is said that the film is inspired from true events.
‘Padmavati’
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus ‘Padmavati’ is one film that the whole country is eagerly waiting for. The movie, which will tell the story of Rani Padmavati, Raja Rawal Ratan Singh and Sultan Alauddin Khilji, stars Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh respectively. Like his previous films, we are SLB has made his film on a grandeur scale.
‘Manikarnika—The Queen of Jhansi’
Kangana Ranaut is all set to portray the role of Rani Lakshmi Bai on the big screen in a film titled ‘Manikarnika—The Queen of Jhansi’. The movie will be directed by Krish and will be releasing in April next year. Kangana as the Jhansi Ki Rani will surely be impressive.
Period films in Bollywood are nothing new. From ‘Mughal-E-Azam’ to ‘Bajirao Mastani’ to ‘Begum Jaan’, there are many films that have taken us back in time. While some succeeded in making us nostalgic, some failed to grab our attention.
