Virat announced his resignation from the Test captaincy in January this year. After his announcement, Anushka had penned a long note and expressed how proud she is. An excerpt from Sharma’s post read: “I remember the day in 2014 when you told me that you have been made the captain as MS had decided to retire from test cricket. I remember MS, you & I having a chat later that day & him joking about how quickly your beard will start turning grey. We all had a good laugh about it. Since that day, I’ve seen more than just your beard turning grey. I’ve seen growth. Immense growth. Around you & within you. And yes, I am very proud of your growth as the captain of the Indian National Cricket team & what achievements the team had under your leadership. But I’m more proud of the growth you achieved within you.”

When Virat credited Anushka for making him ‘more sensible’. Speaking with Gaurav Kapur, the cricketer had said, “I’ve learnt a lot, become more sensible in the last 4 years all because of her. She’s taught me how to be more patient and taught me how to utilise the position you are into the fullest.”

On the occasion of their wedding anniversary, Sharma had showered love on Virat. She had thanked him for inspiring her when she needed it. The actress even called him the ‘most secure man’ she knows. Anushka then mentioned that people who know the real Virat are ‘fortunate’. An excerpt from her note on Instagram reads: “Thank you for inspiring me when I needed it and for keeping your mind open when you needed to listen. Marriage of equals is only possible when both are secure. And you are the most secure man I know! Like I’ve said earlier, fortunate are those who really know the real you, the soul behind all the achievements, the man behind all the projections cast upon you..”

The Indian cricketer has often called his beloved wife, his ‘rock’ or showered praise on her. But, while speaking with Gaurav Kapur, Virat had called Sharma his ‘lady luck’. He had said, “I must thank the lady luck. You have seen me; you know I had no sense before. Ever since the lady has come into my life, she’s taught me a lot of things.”

Anushka and Virat tied the knot in Italy. The couple got married in December 2017 and had a hush-hush ceremony. They welcomed their first child in January 2021. Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma named their daughter Vamika.
