Vijay Deverakonda to Prabhas: South actors who rejected Bollywood movies before making their debut

During a recent interview, actor Vijay Deverakonda who is all set to make his Bollywood debut with Liger once had rejected a Bollywood movie. In the interview, Vijay mentioned that he rejected a movie that was earlier approached by Karan Johar. Reportedly, KJo wanted to make the Hindi remake of Dear Comrade but he declined it. Having said that, we thought of making a list of South actors who have rejected Bollywood movies in the past before they made their big Bollywood debut.

Interestingly, quite a few South actors like Rashmika Mandanna, Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi and Prabhas have rejected Bollywood movies before and the list might leave you surprised.

1. Vijay Deverakonda:

The Arjun Reddy star was approached by Karan Johar for the remake of his own blockbuster film, Dear Comrade but turned down the offer as he thought there was no point in showing the story twice. Interestingly, Johar even bought rights to the film for about Rs 6 crore. Now, Vijay Deverakonda is going to make his big Bollywood debut with the Karan Johar production film, Liger alongside Ananya Panday and Ramya Krishnan. The movie is slated to release on August 25.

2. Rashmika Mandanna:

The National crush of India is going to make her entry into Bollywood with not one but three films. However, before bagging these movies, Rashmika had earlier rejected Shahid Kapoor starrer Jersey. Revealing the reason for rejecting the offers, Rashmika had told IANS, “I got that opportunity because of the choices I have made till now. I don’t think this choice is going to go bad. ‘Jersey’ needs a lot of you. It is almost realistic. Right now, only doing commercial films, I am going insane. Imagine doing something like ‘Jersey’ and not being able to pull it off. If I am part of a film, it has to be because I need to give in to the film. I will not accept any project to which I feel I can’t give a lot to. The ‘Jersey’ remake was huge. Anyone would do it but then I don’t want to come to set and be all tired. I feel they (the film’s makers) deserve more. Someone who can give in energy.” Rashmika Mandanna will make a Bollywood debut with Mission Majnu with Sidharth Malhotra. She also Animal with Ranbir Kapoor and Goodbye with Amitabh Bachchan.

3. Nayanthara:

The female superstar was approached by the makers of Chennai Express for a special dance number One, Two, Three, Four, in Shah Rukh Khan starrer. However, she rejected the offer and the makers then roped in Priyamani who rocked the dance floor. Now, Nayanthara got another chance to work with Shah Rukh as she is going to make her Bollywood debut with SRK in Jawaan which is helmed by Atlee. The also stars Vijay Sethupathi as the antagonist.

4. Vijay Sethupathi:

We bet you didn’t know but Vijay was offered a role in Aamir Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha. Reportedly, he had opted out of the project due to his acting commitments while there were other reports stating that he had to leave the project because he was asked to reduce his weight. Recently, in an interview, the Master actor dismissed the rumours. Apart from that, Vijay Sethupathi is going to make his big Bollywood debut with Jawaan opposite SRK. He also has Merry Christmas with Katrina Kaif and Raj and DK series with Shahid Kapoor.

5. Prabhas:

After the mega success of the Baahubali series, Prabhas was been showered by plenty of movie projects. Among many, Prabhas was also offered some Bollywood movies and one of them was an offer for a movie from filmmaker Karan Johar. However, he reportedly rejected it and made his Bollywood debut with Saaho. He even dubbed Radhe Shyam in Hindi and will be seen in Adipurush.
