The ‘Kick’ start
‘Kick’ released in 2014. It marked the directorial debut of producer Sajid Nadiadwala. The film had Salman Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Randeep Hooda and Nawazuddin Siddiqui playing the principal characters. It was Salman Khan’s first film to enter the Rs 200 Cr club.
The ultimate face off in ‘Kick’
This was the first time when Nawazuddin Siddiqui had shared screen space with superstar Salman Khan. No doubt, their combination worked wonders for the film. Later, they had reunited in ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ which turned out to be yet another blockbuster.
‘Devil’ Salman Khan is returning
Following the super success of ‘Kick’, the makers finally announced earlier this year that a sequel will be made with Salman Khan returning in his Devil avatar. The film is all set to go on floors in January 2019 and is slated to hit the big screens during the festive time of Christmas 2019.
Salman Khan to have a double role in ‘Kick 2’?
In a recent conversation with DNA, filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala spoke about the rumours of Salman playing a double. He said, “That’s not true. I can’t reveal much, all I can say is that it’s something different. The scale on which we are mounting ‘Kick 2’ is huge. Anybody who works with Salman has a great responsibility of making sure they match up to his fans’ expectations.”
The expectations from ‘Kick 2’
After delivering three Rs 300 crore blockbusters, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, ‘Sultan’ and ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’, ‘Kick 2’ certainly carries a lot of expectations. Sajid said over this, “Look at how Sultan, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Tiger Zinda Hai have performed at the box office. When it comes to Salman, we need to think big. The audience has enjoyed his character, Devil, in ‘Kick’. So the storytelling for the sequel has to be better than the first part.”
‘Kick 3’, the ‘Kick’ franchise will continue
Even before ‘Kick 2’ starts rolling, Sajid Nadiadwala opened up about ‘Kick 3’. The filmmaker said that it is also likely to happen in the future. He said, “I was nervous while directing ‘Kick’ because it was my first film. If everything falls into place for the second part, then there’s definitely a chance of ‘Kick 3’. If we can successfully tell Devil’s story again, then this franchise is here to stay.”
Filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala a few days ago had officially announced the much-awaited sequel of superstar Salman Khan-starrer ‘Kick’. The film is all set to start rolling in January 2019 and recently during a conversation with DNA, he made some interesting revelations about the movie.
