The debate surrounding celebs promoting fairness cream brands in the country got ugly after Abhay Deol took to his Facebook account to blame Bollywood stars for doing so.
While many supported him, some got furious on Abhay’s post. But it surely had an impact on our celebs, considering Ranbir Kapoor recently said a straight no to a fairness cream deal. (Also Read: Ranbir Kapoor and Imtiaz Ali to collaborate once again for a project?)
According to SpotboyE.com, Ranbir was recently approached by a brand which wanted to sign him as the face of their fairness cream and were willing to pay him a whopping sum of Rs 9 crore (approximately). But, Ranbir apparently declined the offer.
Soon after Abhay Deol posted his concern on the matter, Sonam Kapoor stood up for herself and also pointed out how Abhay’s cousin Esha too once did the same. Abhay however was rigid on his point, and said wrong is wrong irrespective of who does it. Post that Sonam received quite some flak and even had to delete her tweets.
Even though Ranbir kept mum on the whole matter, he sure did his part. We need more celebrities to stand for such causes, in their own way.
