Just a day back, we reported how Kangana Ranaut will have a working birthday as she is set to pose for the first poster of Rani Lakshmibai biopic. The much touted project was said to be helmed by celebrated filmmaker Ketan Mehta and has been in the pipeline for almost two years now.
But, if latest reports are anything to go by, then Mehta has moved out of the project, following creative differences with Kangana and the team.
“Ketan was insistent that his movie be made in English for an international audience, like Gurinder Chadha’s ‘The Viceroy House’, but those working on the film felt it won’t go with the ethos of the story. The actress and the filmmaker couldn’t find common ground on the language factor, leaving the project in a limbo,” a source told Mid-Day. KV Vijayendra Prasad, the writer of ‘Baahubali’ and ‘Bajrangi Bhaijan’ has penned the script of the biopic. He also happens to be the father of SS Rajamouli. Mehta had brought an international crew on board. However, we hear the film will now be show by a fresh crew.
“The new film will be helmed by a fresh team. A top studio, too, has agreed to back the venture, which is envisioned as an action-packed, feisty film. It is the biopic of an ordinary girl, who when faced with tough times, discovered the warrior in her. The film will go on floors in mid-May,” an insider informed the publication.
However, both Mehta and Kangana remained tight-lipped about it.
