Amid Jai Bhim controversy, Suriya thanks fans for standing by the team: I’ve never witnessed this before!

Suriya starrer Jai Bhim has been raved by critics as well as audiences. But a section of people are not happy with a few scenes in the movie that resulted in controversies. Suriya and his team have been facing threats from the Vanniyar Sangam. The community has even sent a legal notice to the actor for tarnishing their reputation. Fans of Suriya came in support of him and the team and they started trending #WeStandWithSuriya on Twitter.

Today, Suriya took to his Twitter handle to thank his fans for supporting him and showering their love for Jai Bhim. He tweeted, “Dear all, this love for #Jaibhim is overwhelming. Can’t express in words how thankful I am for the trust & reassurance you all have given us. Heartfelt thanks for standing by us ✊?”

On November 15, Vanniyar Sangam sent a legal notice to Suriya, his wife Jyotika, director TJ Gnanavel and Amazon Prime Video. Following this, Suriya’s T Nagar residence in Chennai got police protection as the actor received several threats over the Jai Bhim movie controversy. Reportedly, five police personnel are placed with arms outside his house.

Jai Bhim released on Amazon Prime Video on November 2. It is produced by Suriya and Jyotika under the banner of 2D Entertainment. Suriya plays the character of a lawyer who fights for the rights of the tribal communities.
