Venkat Prabhu and Premgi Amaren’s mother Manimegalai Gangai Amaren passes away

Tamil director/music director Gangai Amaren’s wife and mother of director Venkat Prabhu and actor/singer Premgi Amaren, Manimegalai Gangai Amaren passed away last night (May 9) at 11.30 pm after suffering from age-related illness. She was 69 and was admitted to Kauvery hospital.

Condolence messages are pouring in from the Tamil film fraternity on social media. Music composer Devi Sri Prasad tweeted, “So saddened to hear this news..My heartfelt condolences to Dear @vp_offl & @Premgiamaren & #GangaiAmaren Sir. May her Soul rest in peace. Strength & Prayers to the whole Family..Pls stay strong #ManimegalaiGangaiAmaren”. Radikaa Sarathkumar posted, “Our condolences to @vp_offl and @Premgiamaren and to Gangai Amaran for their huge loss. I know your mom as a very special special and lovely soul, may she rest in peace.”

Talking about Venkat Prabhu, he is currently directing Maanaadu starring Silambarasan and Kalyani Priyadarshan. His brother Premgi Amaren is also a part of the movie. The release date is yet to announced.
