The film industry is one field where people are judged on their looks and appearances a lot and in today’s time, maintaining a ripped and lean physique has become like a necessity for every actor out there. And if you don’t fit in that bracket, you are subjected to body shaming and are criticised for your physical attributes. Meghana Raj Sarja is one such actress who has faced it all, but she insists that it was never the South media that made her feel so.

In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble for XtraOrdinary You Season 2, Meghana Raj Sarja opened up on facing body shaming. When asked if it was by the media or the industry and the audience that she felt more scrutinised by, she said, “Honestly speaking, I don’t think the South media ever pinpointed at my flaws. I think they were more than happy that I had gotten into the industry. I think it was people in the industry who pulled me down.”

However, there was a phase when she lost weight and Meghana insists that the people in South were actually disappointed by that. She shared, “I came back extremely thin and anorexic. They felt very bad I lost weight, they’re like why did you lose weight. They accepted me as I was they’re like you are chubby, you have the curves. They found me very good looking or they found me perfect to be a heroine for that industry but then I already have this social obligation in my head that I’m supposed to look this way to be here or you know be in any other industry. So I am supposed to have a very small waist, I’m supposed to not have a round face, I wish I had that proper high cheekbones and everything and I really disappointed fans back there after I lost weight. But all of my decisions, I don’t regret them but I did gain very loyal and accepting fans here too and now both sides are balanced well.”
