Films like Baahubali, RRR, KGF, Pushpa: The Rise, among others, are blurring the lines between South vs North. But still, there has been debates on South films vs Bollywood films. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Major actor Adivi Sesh opened up on the North vs South film industries debate.
He said, “I think the audience was there 20 years ago. South Indian films were doing well on set Max, then Baahubali came seven years ago. I think it’s the industry that never caught on. So, I really feel bad that none of our actors feel we could because we always could. The audience was always willing. And I feel a lot of it is media created. When media creates, industry reacts, and when industry creates, media reacts. So, it just becomes a catch- 22. It’s like a dragon that keeps feeding itself.”
The actor added, “The truth is we are in the Indian film industry. Badrinath Ki Dulhania is one of my favourite Hindi films as is KGF and Pushpa and as is Baahubali and Hum Aapke Hain Koun. It was when I came here, I was asked how I feel like entering India. I was like, I am an Indian. I didn’t understand the question for somebody who grew up in San Francisco. I was like I have been making Indian movies, what are you talking about?”
He further said, “The acceptance has always been there from my audience. My film Kshanam was remade in Baaghi 2 by Sajid (Nadiadwala) sir, and it’s Tiger Shroff’s biggest success. The acceptance was always there. We were slow to catch on.”
