Malayalam author, actor and screenwriter, P Balachandran passed away after being ill for several months. It is said that he passed away early morning on Monday. He was getting treatment for meningitis for the past eight months apparently.
Balachandran was survived by his wife Sreelatha, who was the former chairperson of Vaikom municipality, and his children Sreekanth and Parvathy. The final rites will take place at his residence in Vaikkom in the evening today.
Born as Padmanabhan Balachandran Nair on February 2, 1952; he worked as both screenwriter and actor in the Malayalam film industry. Balachandran had made his acting debut with Mohanlal in 1995 with the movie Agnidevan. He was last seen in the movie One. The political thriller also starred Mammootty. He had won the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award and Kerala Professional Nataka Award in 1989 for the play ‘Paavam Usman’. He was also honoured with the Kerala State Film Awards 2011.
