Malayalam actress Chitra passed away at her Chennai residence on Saturday, August 21. She was known for her roles in several Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada films. Nallenai Chitra, popularly known as Chitra was was 56 and survived by her husband Vijayaraghavan and daughter Mahalakshmi. As per the reports, Chitra was living with her family in Chennai’s Saligramam and she suffered a heart attack.
The actress’ demise has left the film industry in a state of shock as condolences messages have been pouring in from celebrities and her co-actors along with the fans. Chitra was popularly known for her role in director KS Ravikumar’s Cheran Pandiyan and Pandiarajan’s Gopala Gopala.
Chitra had started out her career as a child artist with director K Balachander’s film Apoorva Raagangal in 1975. Later she went on to star opposite some of the biggest names in the industry.

The late actress was seen in movies like Panchgani, Aval Appadithan, Auto Raja, Krodham, Chinna Poove Mella Pesu, Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha, Amaram, Nayam Vyakthamakkunnu and Ekalavyan. She had taken a hiatus from movies after she got married, but Chitra returned to movies with Mazhavillu and Soothradharan.
