Ponniyin Selvan is one of the most-awaited movies. The magnum opus is directed by Mani Ratnam. It stars Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sarath Kumar, Vikram Prabhu, Sobhita Dhulipala, Jayaram, Prabhu, Parthiban, and Prakash Raj in pivotal roles. It will release in two installments. PS-1 teaser was unveiled recently.
As per a report in India Today, the movie has landed into trouble as director Mani Ratnam and Chiyaan Vikram received a court notice by a lawyer for allegedly misrepresenting the Cholas in the film. The lawyer has sued Mani Ratnam, accusing him of distorting the historical facts about the Cholas.
In his petition, the lawyer pointed out that Aditya Karikalan (played by Vikram) doesn’t have tilak on his forehead. But, the poster of Vikram from Ponniyin Selvan shows a tilak. Selvam, the lawyer feels that the Cholas could be misrepresented in the film. So, he also has demanded a special screening of the film ahead of its release to analyse if the makers had distorted historical facts in the film.
Vikram and Mani Ratnam are yet to comment on the accusations.
Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 is a pan-India film and is set to hit the theatres on September 30 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.

Ponniyin Selvan is based on 1955 historical fiction novel of the same name, written by Kalki Krishnamurthy. Set in the 10th century, Ponniyin Selvan showcases the power struggles within the Chola empire, with enemies of the state acting as catalysts.
