RIP Puneeth Rajkumar: Hospital statement claims he was ‘non-responsive’; Last rites to be performed with full state honours

In a piece of sad news, Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar passed away at the age of 46 after suffering a heart attack today i.e. 29 October. As per reports , a panel of medical experts had extended all their efforts to save the actor, however, he was “non-responsive” when he was brought to the hospital.
Earlier, he had gone to a local clinic and got an ECG (Echocardiogram) done. The results confirmed that he was having a heart attack. While he was on his way to Vikram hospital, he suffered a cardiac arrest and died.

“At the time of arrival to the emergency, the patient [Puneeth Rajkumar] was non-responsive and was in cardiac asystole. Hence, immediate advanced cardiac life support measures were initiated for resuscitation,” the hospital said in a statement. “Inspite of prolonged advanced and aggressive measures, the patient continued to be non-responsive and asystolic. The panel of medical experts extended all efforts to save him. He was declared [dead] at 2.30 pm on 29.10.2021,” Vikram Hospital added.

Dr Ranganath Nayak who treated Puneeth shared that he got chest pain after two hours of workout at a gym. Fans of the actor have started gathering outside Vikram Hospital. Several ministers and Kannada actors including Yash too rushed to the hospital. The Karnataka government has alerted district commissioners and the police to tighten security.

Puneeth Rajkumar Last Rites

As per the latest reports, Puneeth Rajkumar ‘s last rites will be held on Saturday after the return of his elder daughter Vanditha from the USA. Karnataka Revenue Minister R. Ashok stated that the actor’s last rites will be conducted with government honours. His mortal remains were taken to his home from the hospital. Later, his body will be kept at Kanteerava stadium in Bengaluru after 6.30 p.m. for final viewing till late Saturday evening.

Raghavendra Rajkumar, elder brother of Puneeth, revealed that Puneeth was the one who took him to the hospital when he had suffered a heart attack twice earlier. “He got the pacemaker for me. He brought me back from the hospital safely. But I could not bring him back. He went to see my parents,” he said.
