SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR featuring Ram Charan and Jr NTR is on a winning spree in Japan. The movie premiered in The Land Of The Rising Sun on October 21. It released across 209 screens and 31 Imax screens across 44 cities and prefectures in Japan and registered good occupancy across the nation.
RRR minted JPY 180 million in 17 days to become the third highest-grossing Indian film. It has overtaken Aamir Khan’s starrer 3 Idiots.
The box-office collection of 3 Idiots in Japan is JPY 170 million. While RRR has collected JPY 180 million.
Topping the list is megastar Rajinikanth starrer Muthu which has collected JPY400 million. Next is SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2 with a collection of JPY 300 million. In third place is Rajamouli’s period drama RRR.
‘RRR features Ram Charan as Alluri Sitarama, Jr NTR as Komaram Bheem. The SS Rajamouli direction is all about their fight against British rule in India. The magnum opus also features Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in pivotal roles. RRR went on to mint Rs. 1000 crore worldwide during its theatrical run and earned 14.5 million dollars in North America online.

It was loved by the audience in the West with many popular filmmakers singing its praises. The Rajamouli directorial also got its own Honest Trailer and Pitch meeting. Ahead of its release in Japan, SS Rajamouli, Jr NTR and Ram Charan along with SS Rajamouli were spotted promoting RRR. The movie also won the Best International Film award at the 50th Saturn Awards. It was nominated in multiple categories, including Best International Film, Best Action Adventure and Best Director.
