South Indian International Movie Awards aka SIIMA awards 2021, which is considered as one of the biggest and prestigious awards was held in Hyderabad recently and it was attended by many stars from the South film industries. Stars such as Nani, Mahesh Babu, Rashmika Mandanna, Shruti Haasan, Shine Tom Chacko, Kartikeya Gummakonda, Arjun Das, Allu Arjun, Chiranjeevi, Radhika Sarathkumar, Pooja Hegde, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Trivikram, Vennela Kishore, and several prominent stars from the Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil, and Kannada film industries graced the do. Mahesh Babu received the Best Actor Award for his much-acclaimed performance in Maharishi. Rashmika Mandaanna received Best Actress Critics for her amazing performance in Dear Comrade.
Nani took home Entertainer Of The Year, as well as Best Actor (Critics) for Jersey and Gang Leader at the SIIMA awards 2021. This is not all, Jersey also won the prestigious award for Best Film in Telugu. For the unversed, Shahid Kapoor is starring in Jersey’s Hindi remake and Mrunal Thakur is playing the female lead. Dhanush won Best Actor for his movie Asuran, while Mohanlal won Best Actor for his 2019 release Lucifer.
Telugu actor Samantha Akkineni won Best Actor for Oh Baby. Sharing the news on her Instagram stories, Samantha wrote, “Oh Baby is a gift that keeps on giving. Thank you SIIMA Awards for my award. Thank you Nandu Reddy, you know I love you. Come let’s make another amazing movie together. Congratulations to all the winners.”
Just like the Sakshi Excellence awards, Allu Arjun’s Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo won several awards at the event. Allu Arjun took to Instagram to share about his movie’s win. “What a Night! Best Actor, Director, Actress, Music, Singer, supporting role Male… Female, Lyrics, n more …. #AVPLSweep! Thank you @siimawards for a memorable night,” Allu Arjun shared on his Instagram account. Meanwhile, Suriya’s Soorarai Pottru also took home not one or two seven awards on Sunday night.
K Viswanath, a legendary filmmaker was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award. The award was presented by Chiranjeevi and Radhika. The stars also remembered late SP Balasubrahmanyam, who passed away due to Covid-19 complications last year.
