Alec Baldwin Contemplated Suicide After Accident While Shooting Rust
In the latest episode, released this week, Hilaria recounted the tragic day, sharing that she discovered text messages exchanged between them shortly after the incident. She recalled Alec saying, “He wanted to kill himself.” Hilaria elaborated on camera, explaining, “He experiences survivor’s guilt. He’s involved in something unimaginable. He wishes it were him instead; he would change places in a second. This tragedy has severely affected his health and mental state. Over the past few years, he has been dealing with unexpected heart problems and has been hospitalized multiple times.”
The show airs on TLC in the US and candidly addresses the long-lasting effects of the incident on the Baldwin family.
What Happened On Sets Of Rust?
In October 2021, Halyna Hutchins was fatally shot when a gun held by Baldwin discharged a live round. Following the incident, Baldwin faced charges, including involuntary manslaughter, but these were dismissed in 2024. Earlier this year, he filed a civil lawsuit against the prosecutors and investigators involved. He alleged malicious prosecution and civil rights violations.
The lawsuit claims those officials attempted to “scapegoat Baldwin for the acts and omissions of others” despite the absence of evidence to support the charges.
