Ben Affleck & Jennifer Lopez clashed over their parenting styles long before the divorce; source says, “She’s very much a Disneyland stepmom”

After an on-again, off-again relationship that lasted years, a called-off engagement and a short-lived marriage, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are now heading for divorce. While the singer filed for divorce on August 20, the soon-to-be exes are maintaining a friendly relationship with each other’s kids. While the couple do not have any kids together, their blended family comprises of 5 children – Ben’s three kids with ex-wife Jennifer Garner and Jen’s twins with former husband Marc Anthony.

As the couple’s fairytale love story comes to an end, a report has surfaced stating that Ben and Jlo clashed a lot over their parenting styles. Ben reportedly was deeply concerned about Lopez’s lenient approach to bringing up his kids as he believes necessary discipline is required from time to time.

Talking about the couple’s parenting styles, a source told InTouch Weekly that the ‘Good Will Hunting’ star was not happy about how much his soon-to-be ex-wife spoilt their kids and messed with his style of raising them. The insider said, “They have always had vastly different styles of parenting. Ben spoils them from time to time and gives them their favourite treats, but J. Lo really showers them with gifts like nobody’s business.”

The insider stated that Affleck did not want to continue raising his kids according to JLo’s indulgent nature as even though her technique appeared harmless, it was not beneficial for the children. The source – admitting that Ben was thankful for the way the ‘On the Floor’ singer embraced his family and kids, and shared a strong bond she has with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner, said, “She’s very much a Disneyland stepmom. She’s always picking up treats for them, she always seems to know just what will make them happy, and she gets a real kick out of making them smile.”

Ben and JLo rekindled their romance in April 2021 and got engaged in April 2022. They tied the knot in Las Vegas in July 2022. However, their relationship kept making headlines in recent times as the couple began living separately. In May this year, Ben moved out of their shared marital home in Beverly Hills. Since then, Ben has been residing at a rented house in Brentwood and JLo is based at her LA home.

Talking about their kids, Affleck is a father to three children – Violet (18), Seraphina (15), and Samuel (12) with ex-wife, Jennifer Garner and Lopez has 16-year-old twins, Max and Emma, with her former husband Marc Anthony.
