The 43-year-old superstar, Beyonce through her BeyGood foundation, has contributed $2.5 million (£2.05 million) to relief funds in LA. Fans were eagerly awaiting an announcement on Tuesday, speculated to involve a new tour or album. However, given the circumstances, Beyoncé felt it was essential to pause.
On Instagram, she stated, “The January 14th announcement will be postponed to a later date due to the devastation caused by the ongoing wildfires around areas of Los Angeles. I continue to pray for healing and rebuilding for the families suffering from trauma and loss. We are so blessed to have brave first responders who continue to work tirelessly to protect the Los Angeles community.”
On Sunday, the BeyGood Foundation introduced the LA Fire Relief Fund. It aimed at helping families in the Altadena/Pasadena area. It is for those who lost their homes and supporting local churches and community centres. The charity, founded in 2013, focuses on economic equity by aiding marginalized and under-resourced programs.
