Bill Cosby has been freed from judicial custody as he returned home on Wednesday. This came less than two hours after Pennsylvania’s highest court overturned his sexual assault conviction. It was said that the American comedian should have faced such charges after he had struck a non-prosecution deal with a previous district attorney more than 15 years ago.

Bill Cosby finally broke silence on Twitter as he said, “I have never changed my stance nor my story. I have always maintained my innocence.” He also shared an image of himself raising his hand in the air. He further thanked those who showed him support amidst the uproar over the Pennsylvania SC’s controversial decision, “Thank you to all my fans, supporters and friends who stood by me through this ordeal. Special thanks to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court for upholding the rule of law. #BillCosby,”

Over a 10-year prison sentence, Bill had served almost three years of it in prison. In the sexual assault case, Andrea Constand had testified that she was drugged and sexually assaulted by The Cosby. It was Andrea and five other women who gave testimony against Cosby. But he had struck a deal in 2005 with then-Montgomery County district attorney Bruce Castor based on which Bill would be immune from criminal prosecution if he sat for a deposition in a civil case that Constand had brought.

Twitterati expressed their anguish over the Bill Cosby verdict and netizens did not seem happy:
