The international cinematic industry woke up on Saturday to the sad news of the death of veteran actor Mark Margolis. The Emmy nominated actor is most popularly known for playing a drug henchman in the series Breaking Bad. He continued the role in the series’ spin off show Better Call Saul as well.
Mark Margolis dies at 83
Margolis was of the age 83 at the time of his passing. The news of his death was announced by his son, Morgan Morgalis, who is also an actor and the CEO of Knitting Factory Entertainment. The deceased veteran was battling a short illness at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. He passed away on Thursday, as confirmed by his son.

Margolis was a protégé of the legendary acting teacher Stella Adler. He also worked as his personal assistant for a while. Throughout his career, he was a part of many iconic films and shows. He was quite a regular in the films of director Darren Aronofsky. The actor-director duo did six films together, starting from the makers first to sixth film. Their collaboration started with the 1998 film Pi.
Apart from that, Margolis also portrayed Alberto ‘The Shadow’ in the 1983 film Scarface and Antonio Nappa in the American series Oz. His other notable works included Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Requiem For A Dream, The Wrestler, Black Swan and Noah.
He received widespread global acclaim for his role of Hector Salamanca, a vindictive drug runner and a man of few words and a bell in the Emmy winning show Breaking Bad. The late actor appeared in the show that spanned 5 seasons, for 8 episodes. He even got a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for the same in 2012.
Margolis then continued the role in Breaking Bad’s spin off show Better Call Saul too. He made an appearance in 22 episodes on the series. Margolis is survived by wife Jacqueline Margolis, son Morgan and three grandchildren.
