Britney Spears urges court to end father’s guardianship; pleads, ‘I want my life back’

After a 13 year-long silence, Britney Spears has finally spoken about the guardianship that controls her life and her money. Britney urged the Los Angeles judge on Wednesday that she wants to end this ‘abusive’ case and she wants her life back. Spears wants the guardianship that has her father Jamie Spears control of her affairs since 2008 to come to an end. In her 20 minutes long address via a video link, the Toxic hitmaker said, “I just want my life back. It’s been 13 years and it’s enough.” Britney’s personal life and finances, both are managed by Jamie since her much talked about public breakdown more than a decade ago. But, many of her fans have launched the ‘FreeBritney’ campaign just like they were chanting outside the courtroom on Wednesday. In her speech, Britney said that he is ‘traumatized’ and ‘depressed’.

The 39-year-old singer told the judge, “I’m not happy. I can’t sleep. I’m so angry. It’s insane.” She also said that cries every day. She pleaded to judge Brenda Penny, “I truly believe this conservatorship is abusive. I want changes, I deserve changes.” While, Brenda thanked Britney for her ‘courageous words, but she did not give any ruling as yet. There is a long way until the conservatorship comes to an end.

Spears also said that she wants to marry her boyfriend Sam Asghari and have a baby with him. But instead, she is not allowed to even drive with him, “All I want is to own my money and for this to end and for my boyfriend to be able to drive me in his (expletive) car.” When an attorney of her co-conservator said the hearing and transcript should be kept sealed if private medical information was revealed, Britney hit back and said, “They’ve done a good job at exploiting my life, so I feel like it should be an open court hearing and they should listen and hear what I have to say.”

The Womanizer singer also said that she was forced to take Lithium that made her feel drunk after rehearsals for Vegas residency in 2019, which was subsequently cancelled. She also said that Jamie enjoyed her misery and the power he had over her, “I cried on the phone for an hour, and he loved every minute of it,” Spears said. ”The control he had over someone as powerful as me, as he loved the control to hurt his own daughter 100,000%.”

Britney Spears’ ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake also reacted to her speech and had tweeted, “What’s happening to her is just not right. No woman should ever be restricted from making decisions about her own body.”
