A recent interview of the BTS boys RM, Suga, Jin, Jimin, Jungkook, V and J-Hope has gone viral all over the internet but it has left the BTS ARMY extremely furious. BTS has been soaring high on the music charts for quite a long time now. But with their latest releases Butter, Dynamite and Permission To Dance, their chart ratings have known no bounds. The K-Pop band has broken and made new records as Butter and Permission To Dance maintained their position at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts for weeks straight. But during a recent interview with Billboard Magazine, BTS leader RM was faced with the question of the band and facing allegations of ARMY manipulating the music charts.
But, very gracefully reacting to the question RM had said, “It’s a fair question. But if there is a conversation inside Billboard about what being No. 1 should represent, then it’s up to them to change the rules and make streaming weigh more on the ranking. Slamming us or our fans for getting to No. 1 with physical sales and downloads, I don’t know if that’s right … It just feels like we’re easy targets because we’re a boy band, a K-pop act, and we have this high fan loyalty.” BTS ARMY has been hailing RM for his answer but looks like they did not take it well. ARMY has been sharing furious tweets on Twitter with the hashtag Billboard Apologize To BTS.
One of the fans wrote, “can i just say how GRACEFUL namjoon’s answer was? this man is unbelievable. i admire BTS for always knowing the right words to say even if they are being disrepected. #BillboardApologizeToBTS”, another ARMY member wrote, “how @billboard published an article accusing BTS of chart manipulation, mentioning a standard Kpop practice of multiple album versions, then decided to use that very tactic to sell a bundle of 8 magazines with different members on the cover#BillboardApologizeToBTS”, one more tweet by a fan read, “Imagine having the biggest boyband in the world on the cover of your magazine but instead of writing about their achievements and the process of the writing of their songs you instead write about false rumours..#BillboardApologizeToBTS.”

If the same questions would have been ask to other artists , they would have sued billboard. Everyone is underestimating the power of BTS&ARMY. Be thankful that BTS is still staying humble . Or else BTS and ARMY have great powers to prove you wrong again.#BillboardApologizeToBTS pic.twitter.com/vb6R3QAoHR

Apart from that Shin Young-Jae, president of BTS’ label, Big Hit Music was asked if ‘HYBE itself organises fans in any chart manipulation.’ Rubbishing the rumours he replied, “Wouldn’t it be nice if we actually had the ability to mastermind such a thing? I get that there are market developments [related to BTS] that are head-scratchers for some people. But I don’t believe the U.S. market is one that can be handily topped by downloads alone. We think the songs’ impact was shown in many ways, and we are proud of that achievement.”
