Bad news for BTS fans. The millennial King of Pop will probably not be able to attend Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) 2021. The superstar septet was set to make an appearance but will not be able to do so. On December 2, a source from MAMA revealed to Sports Donga that BTS was in talks to make an appearance. But, it has been decided that they will not be appearing. Also due to their extremely busy schedule filming a video is also not possible. But a short video is being prepared for their fans.

Also, the Korean government has tightened entry restrictions in the country due to Omicron, the new strain of COVID-19. Therefore regardless of their vaccination status, any person visiting South Korea on or after December 3 must self-quarantine for ten days.
BTS is presently carrying out activities in Los Angeles, California. They also have a performance on December 3 at the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball Tour 2021. Because the 2021 MAMA is on December 11, BTS will not be able to complete their 10-day self-quarantine in time once they reach South Korea.

On being asked about the possibility of the offline portion of the event being cancelled due to the government’s COVID-19 prevention measures. The source from MAMA stated, “We are keeping an eye on the situation and will inform you if there are changes.”
2021 MAMA begins at 6 p.m. KST on December 11 and will be live-streamed around the world. There will also be various magnificent performances from Kpop lineup artists such as TXT, Stray Kids, aespa, ATEEZ, and many more,
