The organizers must also ensure that no children enter the venue without earplugs or other hearing protection. The Unit has expressed concerns that sound levels exceeding 120 decibels during the concert could pose significant health risks to children.

Noncompliance with these directives could lead to strict repercussions from the District Child Protection Unit. This notice comes in response to a complaint filed by Pandit Rao Dharnevar, an Assistant Professor of Sociology from Chandigarh.

In a statement to ANI, Dharnevar emphasized that exposure to loud sounds and bright lights at concerts can negatively impact children’s physical health and mental development. He also expressed his intention to take similar actions in the future to protect children’s rights. Previously, Dharnevar had complained about a New Year’s Eve concert featuring Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh in Ludhiana.

This complaint prompted the Deputy Director of the Women and Child Department, Government of Punjab, to issue a directive to Ludhiana’s District Commissioner. They urged them to prevent the performance of certain songs that promote alcohol. Songs such as Patiala Pegg, 5 Tara Theke, and Case (Jeeb Vicho Feem Labbiya), even if their lyrics are altered. Dharnevar raised concerns about the potential influence of such songs on young audiences, particularly when underage children are present.

Previously, Coldplay announced shows in Mumbai on January 18, 19 and 21, 2025. The band consists of lead vocalist Chris Martin, guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman, and drummer Will Champion. They last graced the Indian stage in 2016 as part of the Global Citizen Festival, also held in Mumbai. This will mark the band’s return to India after a hiatus of nine years.
