Garfield and Tomas were first linked in March. They were seen holding hands during a double date with Phoebe Bridgers and Bo Burnham. Despite their public outings, including shopping for groceries in Los Angeles, Andrew has largely kept his romantic life private.

The couple’s last public appearance together was in July at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships in England. Since then, Andrew Garfield has opted not to comment on their breakup, which Kate Tomas has confirmed occurred several months prior. In a 2021 interview, Andrew expressed his desire to maintain privacy in his relationships. He said, “I’m not in the public eye to a great degree because I’ve designed it that way for myself.”

Despite the recent public announcement of their split, it appears the breakup occurred quietly months ago. Tomas has faced scrutiny since her relationship with Garfield became known. In response to a comment questioning her focus on him, she replied, “Sweetheart, the only people who ever talk about or centre a man in my life, work, business, and social media are women like you.”

In a July interview with The Sunday Times, Tomas voiced her frustration with societal norms. She stated, “It’s frustrating that no matter how accomplished or impactful a woman is, it’s always going to be more interesting if they are in a relationship with a man. I don’t want to sit under anybody’s shadow.”
