Hollywood beauty Dakota Johnson is all set to play the lead role of Madame Web in Sony’s upcoming Spider-Man spin-off. This is the first time the actress will be seen in a superhero film. The film’s script is being penned by writers Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless.
Madame Web will be the first female superhero in Sony Pictures’ Marvel Cinematic Universe, according to Deadline.
The film is centered on Madame Web, a mutant with psychic sensory powers. This makes her able to predict the future of other superheroes in the universe.
As reported by ComicBook’s Kofi Outlaw, “Cassandra Webb of Marvel Comics is a mutant born in Salem, Oregon. She is afflicted with a neuromuscular disease that leaves her paralyzed and blind. But she has amazing psychic powers of telepathy, clairvoyance and precognition. These powers allow her an insight into events beyond the capability of her physical body. She gets her name from the web-like life-support machine she’s hooked into, which looks like a giant spider’s web. She has also served as a mentor to Peter Parker’s alter ego and also generations of heroes calling themselves Spider-Woman.”
Sources added, Last month, news broke that Madame Web could begin production in 2022. Though the location is already selected, there are no specific dates in place.
