Grammy Awards 2022 gets a NEW date, to take place in Las Vegas

On Tuesday, The Grammy Awards got a new date. Earlier, it was postponed due to rising COVID-19 cases. This year the ceremony will be held on April 3 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, the Recording Academy and broadcaster CBS said in a statement.

The official social media of Grammys announced the new date and wrote: “The 64th #GRAMMYs have been rescheduled and will now be broadcast live from the @MGMGrand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 3 on CBS (@cbstv) and available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+. (@paramountplus)! ✨?”

The show will be broadcast live by CBS. This is the first time the Grammys ceremony will be held in Las Vegas.

 Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr said in a statement: “We are excited to take the Grammys to Las Vegas for the very first time, and to put on a world-class show. From the moment we announced the postponement of the original show date, we have been inundated with heartfelt messages of support and solidarity from the artist community. We are humbled by their generosity and grateful for their unwavering commitment to the GRAMMY Awards and the Academy’s mission.”

Comedian Trevor Noah will host the ceremony, which will be televised and streamed live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Performers are yet to be announced. Meanwhile, the nominations for the 2022 Grammys were announced in November and it featured nominees including Justin Bieber, Billie Eilish, Doja Cat and Olivia Rodrigo. Currently, the Oscars are still scheduled for March 27, one week before the Grammys.

This is the second year the Grammys has been rescheduled due to the spread of the Coronavirus.
