Joaquin Phoenix’ first look from Joker: Folie à Deux as Arthur Fleck out

Joaquin Phoenix is back as Arthur Fleck for the second instalment of his hit flick Joker. The latest addition to the much awaited sequel is Lady Gaga who will be playing the role of Harley Quinn. Filmmaker Todd Phillips has shared the first look at Joaquin Phoenix from his upcoming film Joker: Folie à Deux from the first day of filming.

The film is a sequel to his 2019 hit Joker, that earned multiple Oscar nominations and even the Best Actor trophy for Joaquin’s performance as Arthur Fleck

Sharing the photo, the filmmaker in the captions wrote, “Day 1. Our boy. #joker.”

The photo showcases Fleck giving a dead-eyed look as he’s receiving a shave from what appears to be an orderly at the facility. He is lying shirtless, looking skinnier than ever before, with shaving foam on his face. Fans were blown over by Joaquin’s intense first look, but Joaquin’s sister Rain Phoenix commented on the same with a shock emoji.

Some fans also demanded to see Lady Gaga. She plays Harley Quinn in the movie and her look as not been revealed yet. “Sneak peak at Gaga plis,” asked a person. “Will we get your girl on Day 2,” asked another. “Please give us a picture of Harley Quinn aka Lady Gaga,” read another comment.

The film is said to be set in part in Arkham Asylum. The movie features Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn. The news was confirmed on Instagraam. Reportedly Gaga’s Quinn will reside in a distinct realm from Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn.

Apart from Lady Gaga and Joaquin, Brendan Gleeson has also been cast in the production. Zazie Beetz, who portrayed Sophie Dumond in the first Joker movie, is set to reprise the role in Joker: Folie á Deux.

Joker: Folie à Deux is slated to release on October 9, 2024.
