Lady Gaga confirms Harley Quinn role in Joker 2, shares new teaser

Singer-actor Lady Gaga confirms that she will be seen as Harley Quinn in Joker: Folie a Deux. The actress will be collaborating with Joaquin Phoenix in upcoming movie. The movie is a sequel to 2019’s Todd Phillips much acclaimed film Joker. Gaga announced her casting in the Warner Bros project via teaser she posted on her Instagram page.

Sharing the video clip on Instagram she simply captioned it as, Joker: Folie à Deux.

The video clip is set to “Cheek to Cheek”, the song Gaga famously covered with legendary singer Tony Bennett. If Gaga really is playing a new version of Harley Quinn, she will be the second actress to play the character. Margot Robbie played the part in Suicide Squad (2016), Birds of Prey (2020), and The Suicide Squad (2021).

Joker 2 will hit theaters on October 4, 2024, precisely five years after the first film opened in 2019. Joker traced the origin of the Clown Prince of Crime. He is one of the most famous comic-book supervillain and the arch-nemesis of Batman. The movie directed by Todd Phillips (The Hangover) introduced Phoenix as Arthur Fleck the Clown Prince of Crime. The actor won the Oscar for his performance in the noir drama. The movie grossed over $1 billion internationally, inspiring Warner Bros. to greenlight a second film. Unlike the dark and gritty Joker, the sequel Joker: Folie a Deux is being created as a musical.
