An unidentified woman who accused rappers Jay-Z and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs of sexually assaulting her when she was 13 years old has officially withdrawn her lawsuit against them. According to court documents filed in a New York Federal Court on Friday, the case has been dismissed “with prejudice,” meaning it cannot be refiled. The attorney representing the accuser did not provide further details regarding the decision to drop the lawsuit.
About Jay-Z & Diddy
Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, addressed the dismissal in a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), where he called the allegations “frivolous, fictitious, and appalling.” He further stated, “This civil suit was without merit and never going anywhere. The fictional tale they created was laughable, if not for the seriousness of the claims.”
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs also responded to the lawsuit’s dismissal, calling it “yet another confirmation that these lawsuits are built on falsehoods, not facts.” He emphasized that the accusers have been “hiding behind anonymity” and accused their attorney of being more focused on gaining media attention than pursuing legitimate legal action.
The lawsuit had initially caused significant public scrutiny, adding to the legal challenges surrounding Combs, who has been facing multiple lawsuits alleging misconduct in recent months. However, with this case now dismissed, both artists have reaffirmed their stance against the accusations.
While the reasons behind the lawsuit’s withdrawal remain unclear, legal experts suggest that dismissing a case with prejudice often indicates a lack of evidence or a settlement agreement. Nevertheless, the allegations had already stirred controversy, leading to widespread discussions on social media.
As of now, neither the accuser nor her legal team have provided additional comments, and it remains uncertain whether any further legal actions will arise from the case.
