Leonardo DiCaprio, Dwayne Johnson, and Emily Blunt are in talks to star in Martin Scorsese’s upcoming Hawaii-set crime film. Written by Nick Bilton, the movie follows a mob boss fighting for control of the Hawaiian islands in the 1960s and 1970s. Described as being in the vein of Goodfellas and The Departed, the film is produced by Scorsese, Johnson, Blunt, DiCaprio, Bilton, and others.

This marks another significant collaboration between Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt, who are currently working together on The Smashing Machine. It was an A24 drama directed by Benny Safdie that is being praised as one of Johnson’s most ambitious dramatic performances. Meanwhile, Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio are officially on board to produce an upcoming crime film set in Hawaii. It is inspired by an idea from Johnson and Blunt, as reported by Deadline.

About the film

The project is presently being pitched to studios and streaming services and is already drawing comparisons to classics like The Departed and Goodfellas, though a distribution deal has yet to be finalized. The untitled crime drama will be scripted by journalist and author Nick Bilton, who previously directed the 2021 HBO documentary Fake Famous.”= Johnson and Blunt, who appeared together in Jungle Cruise, initially developed the concept before presenting it to Scorsese and DiCaprio.
