As per the latest reports, 5 arrests have been made over the death of ‘Friends’ star Matthew Perry. Perry – who gained fame as Chandler Bing on the NBC hit show Friends, was found dead in a hot tub at his Pacific Palisades home in Los Angeles on October 28, 2023. Medical reports suggested that Matthew – who was candid about struggling with addiction, passed away due to the acute effects of ketamine.
On Thursday, August 15, the US prosecutors stated that they have charged five people, including two doctors and Perry’s live-in assistant, over his death. Read on to know the details.
5 arrests made in Matthew Perry death case
So far, five individuals have been accused of taking advantage of the actor’s addiction. Jasveen Sangha (41), allegedly known as ‘The Ketamine Queen,’ and Dr Salvador Plascencia (42), a licensed medical doctor known as ‘Dr P’ are the lead defendants in the case. They are expected to be arraigned later Thursday.
The other three charged in the case are Perry’s live-in assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa (59) – who admitted to administering the drug on the day the actor died, Dr Mark Chavex (54) – a licensed medical doctor who acknowledged having sold the drug to Plascencia and Eric Fleming (54) – who admitted to distributing the drug that killed Perry.
NDTV in an article noted US Attorney Martin Estrada saying, “These defendants took advantage of Mr Perry’s addiction issues to enrich themselves. They knew what they were doing was wrong. They knew what they were doing was risking great danger to Mr Perry, but they did it anyway.” They added, “In the end, these defendants were more interested in profiting off Mr Perry than caring for his well-being.”
Another report reveals that Kenneth – who was with Perry for nearly three decades, allegedly injected the fatal dose that killed Perry. The report also noted that Iwamasa confessed to a federal charge of conspiracy to distribute ketamine leading to the actor’s death
