American singer-songwriter and dancer Michael Jackson has been an inspiration for many around the world for his music. The biographical film chronicling the life of pop legend Michael Jackson has now been delayed as Lionsgate has announced a significant shift in the release.
Michael Jackson’s biopic release was pushed to late 2025
As per the Hollywood Reporter, the biopic film, which was originally announced to be released on April 18, 2025, has now been scheduled for October 3, 2025. It is directed by Antoine Fuqua.
The movie, which features Jaafar Jackson, the late pop icon’s nephew, in the main role, has attracted additional attention as a result of the delay. Nia Long, Laura Harrier, Miles Teller, and Colman Domingo are among the ensemble cast members led by Jaafar Jackson, whose likeness to his well-known uncle has drawn notice.
The biopic film is written by John Logan and it explores both the public and personal lives of Michael Jackson. It aims to offer a nuanced portrayal of the man behind the music.
During a panel at San Diego Comic-Con in July, the director Antoine talked about the film. He said, “Michael was a big part of my life growing up, a big influence on my career, an incredible artist—but he was a human being, and we’re exploring that. I’m very excited about it.”
The producer Graham King stated that the film will have full movie length and ensure that Jackson’s story is told in full, with the music playing an integral part in the narrative. It would feature 30 of Jackson’s most iconic songs.
“This film is about more than just the music. It’s about exploring Michael Jackson’s journey as both an artist and a person—his genius, his struggles, and the impact he made on the world,” King stated.
