Monsta X leader Shownu gets an emotional send-off as he leaves for his mandatory military training

Monsta X leader Shownu left for his mandatory military training on July 22. Shownu flaunted his new military haircut in new pictures before leaving for his training. Sharing a set of new selfies where his military haircut is at full display, he wrote via the official Monsta X SNS, “Be careful of the heat, and take good care of your health and happiness. I love you~” Shownu also received an emotional send-off from all the members and fans.

Greeting his fans, Shownu said, “Promising that the day will come when we meet again, I will take good care of my health and will return soon. I’ll be back as a more mature and respectful person. Thank you!” Shownu will begin his 4-week basic military training starting today, i.e July 22, as per K- media. Post the basic training, he plans to carry out the remainder of his duties as a public service worker due to his medical history.

Shownu had to undergo surgery for a retinal detachment in his left eye and a dislocated shoulder, for those unaware. In an official letter shared on his fan cafe, Shownu had written, “Hello, how are you doing? This is MONSTA X’s Shownu. From July 22, I will be taking a short hiatus as I fulfil my national defence duties. It feels like just yesterday when I made my debut, but now it’s time for me to go to the military.”

“As I worked hard until now, I have experienced both joy and hardship and various meaningful moments with the members and the fans. The love and support that I’ve received from fans is not just the love between one person and another but something much bigger than that,” the letter further read.
