Filmmaker Payal Kapadia once again created history at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards as her film All We Imagine As Light bagged a nomination in the Best Director— Motion Picture category. Also, the film has scored a nomination in the Best Motion Picture in a Non-English Language category.

Payal has now reacted to the nomination of the Golden Globe Awards 2025. The director has expressed her gratitude to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for the recognition. In a statement, the director stated, “I’m deeply honoured by this nomination and grateful to the HFPA for this recognition. This is a celebration of everyone who worked so passionately on the film. To everyone in India, All We Imagine as Light is still in theatres—please go watch it and support us.”
Her feature film’s first nomination for Best Director— Motion Picture was with Jacques Audiard for Emilia Pérez, Sean Baker, Anora, Edward Berger for Conclave, Brady Corbet for The Brutalist and Coralie Fargeat for The Substance.
While the other nominees for Best Motion Picture in a Non-English Language category were Emilia Pérez, The Girl with the Needle, I’m Still Here, The Seed of the Sacred Fig and Vermiglio.
About All We Imagine As Light
All We Imagine As Light follows Prabha’s character, who receives an unexpected gift from her estranged husband, and Anu, her young roommate seeking intimacy with her boyfriend.
All We Imagine As Light made history by premiering at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, becoming the first Indian film since 1994 to compete in the main competition and winning the prestigious Grand Prix.
The film is an official Indo-French co-production between Petit Chaos from France and Chalk & Cheese and Another Birth from India. It was released in theatres on November 22.
